| Roll Up for Ramsbottom Blues Festival! | A quick mention here for Ramsbottom Blues Festival which runs from this Friday to Sunday in a variety of venues in the town. What’s this all got to do with folk music?
Well, not that much, but the smaller festivals need support and after disappearing for a while there were fears that this one would cease to be, to quote Monty Python.
The main events are at the cricket club on Saturday and Sunday, but there is also plenty of free stuff in the surrounding pubs. Blues and ragtime guitarist Graham Robinson puts in an appearance at the Lounge between 12.30pm and 2.00pm on Sunday and lap slide player Tom Doughty plays the Rose and Crown at 4.30pm on Saturday. Both have appeared at North West folk clubs recently.
Tickets for the main event are priced at £15 and £10 for Ramsbottom residents. Under sixteens get in free, when accompanied by a paying adult. They can be obtained by calling 0161 761 2216, visiting The Met website at www.themet.biz or from Quaytickets on 0844 815 4870.
