| Subversion in Sale | 'Robespierre is wagging his finger
Karl Marx is scratching his head
They ought to be shooting the bankers
But they're giving them money instead.'
The words come from the pen of song writer and long-time trouble maker Leon Rosselson, and they’re hard to argue with.
Rosselson first came to prominence in the early sixties, singing his own satirical songs on TV show That Was The Week That Was, after being a member of the Galliards. He toured Britain’s folk clubs extensively in that decade.
He has a large catalogue of solo recordings and has also collaborated with Martin Carthy, Roy Bailey and Robb Johnson amongst others.
This year, Rosselson celebrates fifty years of performing and his show Turning Silence into Song moves on to Sale Waterside on November 8th. He will be joined at this concert by acclaimed singers Frankie Armstrong, Janet Russell & Sandra Kerr and folk duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan.
