| Exposed: The Big Fiddle | Musical entertainment comes in various forms. If you’re cerebrally challenged you can pay £75 to sit in some distant corner of a large arena and see Madonna mime.
For a much smaller sum it’s possible to listen to top class acoustic performers, who produce the sound themselves rather than have it emanate from a CD that’s piped through the PA system. One such event will be hosted in the exotic confines of Middlewich British Legion at the end of the month in a double bill featuring Dave Swarbrick and Gina Le Faux.
Fiddle virtuoso Swarbrick needs no introduction. He’s done everything, everywhere with everyone. From a musical perspective you understand. Le Faux is pretty handy with a bow as well, and her latest CD includes accompaniments from folk icons Martin Simpson, Andy Cutting, Hugh Bradley and Keith Angel. She sings, plays guitar and writes songs as well. Some people just like to show off.
Opening the evening will be local musician Peter Butler, a fine guitarist with material that includes classical, traditional, ragtime and contemporary pieces.
This all happens on January 30th 7.30 pm. It will have probably stopped snowing by then.
Tickets costing £12 can be obtained from InAnyEvent.org.uk or WeGotTickets.com. Go on. You know you want to.
