| Big Brother House with a Difference |  Those currently avoiding Channel 4, in case they come across Celebrity Big Brother by accident, will be relieved to know that such gatherings aren’t restricted to z-list celebrities desperate for publicity.
Musicians Rory McLeod, Julie Matthews, Boo Hewerdine, Jez Lowe and Ruth Notman and poets Kate Fox, Matt Harvey and Elvis McGonagall are currently holed up in a house near Hadrian’s Wall, collaborating on a project which will be based on experiences of life around the Wall both ancient and modern.
The result will be a 75 minute piece titled All Along the Wall which will first see the light of day at the Wave Centre in Maryport, Cumbria on 31st January 2010. There will also be performances at the Brampton Live Festival in July and at the Sage in Gateshead toward the end of the year. All Along the Wall it is then.
Festival goers at Brampton will also have the chance to visit various sites along the wall where there will be additional music. During 2011 there are plans to run a smaller version of the project touring around village communities in both Cumbria and Northumberland.
Hadrians Wall Heritage Ltd and The PRS Foundation for New Work are supporting the project and BBC Radio 2 have also agreed to cover it at some point in the year. So that’s another reason to turn the goggle box off.
