The music session which has been resident at the Bull's Head in Mobberley for many years is moving to the Cross Keys in Knutsford.

The session is on the first and third Wednesday of the month and the first one will take place on Wednesday 17th February. More details in the Singers and Sessions section.

How to Get Rid of a Dent

The Dent Folk Festival is no more. Don’t worry it’s just been renamed to reflect the new location. Last year’s event was a great success with sunny weather being provided on Saturday afternoon along with top line performers and a bar selling proper beer. Tickets are on sale now and a glitch with the online booking system has been sorted.

But it’s a Long Time Until June

It certainly is and it seems even longer than that with the weather being so bloody cold. So why not give the Salwey Arms Music Song & Dance Weekend a whirl. It’s in Wooferton near Ludlow in Shropshire between March 5th and 7th. There are sing arounds, music sessions and a ceilidh on Saturday night, admission price, a fiver. Those attending this weekend’s Cheltenham Folk Festival may have thawed out by then.

Further details from Sally on 01568 770821 or make contact through the link at the bottom of the page.

While you’re visiting Ludlow, take a trip to the headquarters of Clearview Stoves and wee through the letterbox. You’ll be doing the webmaster of this site a big favour. Obviously this may be more difficult for you girls, unless your aim is spectacular.

Charlie B Goes West

Sheffield based songstress Charlie Barker has finally made it to the civilised side of the Pennines and will be supporting Pancho Ballard & the Banditos on February 19th, at Butterflies, a new venue in downtown Bolton. What took you so long girl?

And Speaking of Bolton

Bromley Cross Folk Club host Three Sheets in the Wind, an amalgamation of Keith Kendrick, Derek Gifford and Geoff Higginbottom on Friday 26th February. Support is provided by Seat of the Pants featuring Heather Dunn, a woman who combines music, comedy and a prodigious consumption of alcohol into one act.

This spectacle can be witnessed for the ridiculously cheap price of £8. Tickets from the link at the bottom.

As Bugs Bunny would say, That’s All Folks.
