| North West Folk News No3 | Bringing in the Pennies
Well not pennies, more like pounds, six hundred and forty of them to be precise. Ian Clegg’s band Zulu Road and five other sets of musicians, raised that amount at their Oxfam Oxjam event at the Hotel Deux in Nottingham, the Saturday before last.
Fund raising efforts continue, this time for Cancer Research UK. Visit Clare Island and you can download a track for free. If you like it then make a donation.
Charity Doesn’t Just Begin at Home
The Verge at the Cheshire Ring are hosting a full day of music on Sunday 28th February, in an attempt to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
Bands wishing to play need to raise £50 through sponsorship. Solo performers need to raise £25. All monies raised will be donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee.

A Ghost of a Chance
GhostSong, Jon Orpheus’s eclectic collection of musicians are looking for gigs. So if you’re into psychedelic folk rock they might just be your bag. Sample tracks and more information at GhostSong on Myspace. They’ll also be featuring on Ali O’Brien’s Sounds of Folk programme on Oldham Community Radio on 1st March.

An Odder Kind of Evening
Cool As Folk have an event at the Odder Bar in Oxford Road Manchester next Monday at 8pm through midnight. No live musicians, but a DJ playing Nu-Folk, Indie-Folk & Folktronica.
