And the YAR Winner is...
North West Folk music clubs picCongratulations to Niamh Boadle who was this year’s winner of the Young Acoustic Roots competition held on the last day of the Wath Festival.

Niamh, one third of folk group Tri, beat off competition from runner up Peter Dilley and finalists Bella Gaffney and Wilbur Sears. She was presented with the Richard Moody trophy by Ray Hearne, who judged the competition along with Tom Bliss and Sue Dewsbury.

The other prize was to open the evening concert at Montgomery Hall which featured The Bad Shepherds, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart and Tom Bliss. No pressure there then.

The Young Acoustic Roots competition is open to musicians aged 12 to 21. Details for next year can be obtained from Pete on 01709 739093 or from the BPAS link below.
