There’s a new (well kind of) music session at the Bowling Green on Grafton Street, Manchester M13 9NZ (next to A&E) tonight.

It all kicks off (pardon the jargon) at 8.30 pm and all instruments are welcome. There will be a mix of British and European folk and other material is also welcome.

The session used to be in the Ducie Arms, but moved to the Bowling Green on 1st June where it will be held every fortnight.

Vuvuzela players will be particularly welcome. Sorry, just joking.

But if you’d rather stay in…

Then James Blatchley has a stonker of show on Chorley FM. From 8pm – 9pm there's an appearance from The Moose Loose String Band who specialise in Bluegrass/Old Time/Rockabilly & country music.

After that there's an exclusive interview with My Sweet Patootie as they start their UK tour. Terry Young and Sandra Swannell were originally musicians in the huge Canadian folk group Tanglefoot, reviewed on this very site, not long ago. The accents turned our reviewer, Heather Dunn, to mush. It wasn't pretty.

Tune in on 102.8FM or check out the station online.
